THE WEITZ COMPANY COMPLETES FOURTH BUILDING FOR CH2M HILL
Construction demonstrates continued dedication to sustainability and green building
DENVER, Colo. – January 25, 2007 – The Weitz Company, a premier national contractor with more than 150 years’ experience, completed construction of CH2M HILL’s East office building, the fourth Weitz has constructed as part of the CH2M HILL corporate campus. Continuing Weitz’ building trend with the first three buildings, the fourth building was designed and built implementing LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) design initiatives.
The LEED Green Building Rating System® is the common standard of measurement for green building. In an effort to become Silver LEED Certified, Weitz employed several elements including utilizing daylighting to ensure most employees have a view of the outside, using low emitting paints, carpet, adhesives and sealants, as well as employing a low-water system to reduce excessive water usage in the toilet plumbing system amongst others.

Weitz’ prior experience in green building was vital throughout construction in keeping the project on-schedule and on-budget.”
Weitz also completed the first three CH2M HILL buildings – North, South and West.
“Our expertise in office construction allowed us to build successfully while realizing CH2M HILL’s goal of creating a campus that supports Colorado’s environment,” said Bill Hornaday, president of the Rocky Mountain Business Unit. “It’s great to work with a company that is as dedicated to sustainability as we are.” The East Building is located at 9127 Jamaica Street in Englewood, Colorado. The building will accommodate 439 employees in 97,738 square feet, while the corporate campus houses 1,200 employees on a 30.82 acre site in four buildings.
