The Weitz Company Sponsors West Des Moines Chamber Annual Dinner
Des Moines, IA – The Weitz Company sponsored the West Des Moines Chamber annual dinner on Jan. 17 for the third consecutive year.
As event sponsor, Weitz had the opportunity to give a presentation on a topic of its choice and featured the Michael R. Myers Hospital being constructed by Weitz in West Des Moines. In addition to Weitz Iowa President Mike Tousley’s comments about the project, Eric Crowell, president and chief operating officer of Iowa Health – Des Moines, expressed his appreciation for the community’s support and showed a two-minute video illustrating what city residents can look forward to in the spring of 2010 when the new facility is completed.
“It’s a privilege to continue our involvement with this event,” said Tousley. “It’s a time when everyone comes together to celebrate the city’s accomplishments and solidifies relationships that are such a large part of the city’s exponential growth and success. I felt this was the perfect opportunity to showcase one of the city’s most exciting projects that exemplifies partnerships between businesses and residents.”
This year’s crowd of approximately 300 people set an event record. The Citizen of the Year award was shared by Liang Qiao and elite gymnast Shawn Johnson. Johnson will be competing in the 2008 Olympics in Bejing.
