Weitz Employees Demonstrate Care and
Concern for Local Community
PHOENIX, Ariz. (December 14, 2007)…Mike Bontrager, president of the Southwest Business Unit of The Weitz Company, is pleased to announce that the company is ending the holiday season with a heart warming BANG! This past holiday season employees and the company raised over $14,361 for The Valley of the Sun United Way. Overall over $12,500 will directly go to support local programs that improve lives in the community.
This aid will contribute to United Way’s aggressive goal of $52.5 million. Ben Campbell, Chairman and CEO of JPMorgan Chase Arizona, spearheads the fundraising efforts as United Way’s Campaign Chairman. “I am passionate about rallying the business community around a shared mission of improving lives and by partnering with United Way we are able to make the greatest impact on our community’s needs.”
Weitz’s partnership with United Way will help provide solutions to the Valley’s most critical human care needs. Last year, the Weitz Southwest Business Unit contributed over $13,000 to local United Way organizations and plans for 2008 are already in place.
“Weitz has been giving to United Way for the last 27 years and we will continue to as long as we can. Employees like the fact that all of the funds donated to the Valley of the Sun United Way stay in our local community where we build everyday,” says Bontrager.
