PHOENIX, Ariz. (February 11, 2008)…Mike Bontrager, president of the Southwest Business Unit of The Weitz Company, is pleased to announce that The Weitz Company has opened a Tucson branch to serve the Southern part of Arizona. The new branch is located at 1849 N. Kolb Road in Suite 135.
This Tucson branch is operating as a stand alone office sharing resources with the Phoenix office, where the Southwest Business Unit headquarters is located. Gary Jones has been appointed Branch Manager. Jones is responsible for the management of preconstruction and construction operations of assigned projects for the Branch. Jones, a graduate of University of Arizona, has brought with him over 25 years experience in the construction industry.
Though Weitz has been building in the Greater Tucson area since 1988, Weitz decided to build this branch in response to their clients. “Our clients are requesting more of a local presence in Tucson, and with the growth expectations of Tucson and the surrounding areas, it just made sense “say Bontrager. Recent projects completed by the company in the Greater Tucson area include the JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort and Spa, a lush 575 room Arizona desert resort and Splendido at Rancho Vistoso, a resort like continuing care retirement community.
“Our goal is to continue to be a high value service provider and increase our Tucson market share over the next five years, says Clay Wells, vice president of business development. The market segments will be similar to those targeted in the Phoenix office, though unique government opportunities in Tucson and the surrounding areas will be pursued.”
