MIKE TOUSLEY FEATURED SPEAKER AT DRAKE UNIVERSITY LET’S DU LUNCH SERIES

Des Moines, IA – Weitz Iowa President Mike Tousley took attendees of a recent Drake University Let’s DU Lunch on a journey (from their seats) of construction projects throughout Drake’s campus and around Greater Des Moines. A cameo appearance by Tousley’s English Bulldog, Maggie, entertained guests and provided a firsthand look at a live version of the Drake mascot.

Tousley spoke of the 82-year-old, time-honored partnership between Drake and Weitz that dates back to 1926 when Weitz constructed Drake stadium and field house. Between 1926 and 1992, 13 additional buildings were constructed or renovated. Most recently, Weitz renovated Olin Hall, completed the renovation of half the Quad dormitories and is nearing completion on the Drake West Village project.

“The relationship between Drake and Weitz is a strong example of two entities working together to exceed expectations,” said Mike Tousley. “Drake is focused on creating the best learning environment for its students and Weitz aims to support that goal by delivering projects with aggressive construction schedules to minimize impact on students.”

Insight into projects across the metro featured: Michael R. Myers Hospital, Aviva USA headquarters, Principal Child Development Center, Principal Parking Ramp, Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield headquarters and the Animal Rescue League of Iowa. The Let's DU Lunch series is open to the public and sponsored by Drake's Central Iowa Alumni Chapter and the Greater Des Moines Partnership.
