Weitz Agricultural Awarded Contract to Build New Syngenta Seeds Processing Facility in Pasco, WA
Des Moines, Iowa, USA, August 22, 2008
Weitz Agricultural, LLC, a division of Weitz Industrial Services Group, was selected by Syngenta Seeds, Inc. to construct a new seed facility in Pasco, WA. The technologically-advanced seed processing facility will be located on approximately 40 acres of land and will process sweet corn seed, green bean seed, and small-seeded vegetables seed. As the design/build contractor, Weitz began construction at the end of June. The scheduled completion date is fall 2009.
Weitz Agricultural is proud of its relationship with Syngenta and has partnered with the seed company on numerous projects in recent years. From design and construction of a $4.5 million new seed corn conditioning tower in Phillips, NE, to the fast-paced $32 million design/build expansion of an existing seed facility in Lone Tree, IA, the partnership between Weitz and Syngenta has been strong.
“Syngenta has been pleased with the quality and professionalism Weitz has demonstrated on our construction projects,” said Dan Burdett, Head of the vegetables business in North America for Syngenta Seeds / ROGERS® Brand. “We expect this new facility to play a key role in enhancing Syngenta’s leadership position as a provider of high quality vegetables seeds.”
Weitz Agricultural, LLC is a full service design/build contractor providing services to the seed, dry flowable grain and renewable energy industries. Weitz Agricultural’s clients include Syngenta, Pioneer, Monsanto and Renewable Energy Group.
”We are very excited to use our design, scheduling and construction capabilities with Syngenta’s vegetable seed knowledge on a project of major importance in the northwest,” said Stan Junod, Construction Manager for Weitz Agricultural, LLC.
Established in 1855, The Weitz Company has been providing quality construction services longer than any other contractor west of the Mississippi. Since becoming employee-owned in 1995, Weitz has grown to be a contractor with more than $1.6 billion in annual volume. This financial strength is a direct result of valued employee owners and their commitment to Weitz and its clients.
