CHERRY CREEK NORTH BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT Selects general contractor
The Weitz Company brings local experience to the Capital Improvements Project
DENVER—The Cherry Creek North Business Improvement District (BID) selected The Weitz Company as the general contractor for their upcoming Capital Improvements Project. The work is the first comprehensive upgrade to the Cherry Creek North streetscape in 20 years and will improve the overall business environment in the District.
"Cherry Creek North has a national reputation as a shopping and dining destination," said Julie Bender, president and CEO of Cherry Creek North BID. “These improvements will enhance the overall Cherry Creek North experience for constituents, consumers and residents. During these renovations, Cherry Creek North will be open for business as usual.”
The renovation and upgrade of Cherry Creek North’s streetscape, which includes improvements to its lighting, signage, intersections, landscaping, street furniture and other forms of infrastructure, will be made throughout the sixteen block area of Cherry Creek North and is scheduled to begin in the next few weeks. In addition, the City and County of Denver will be including Cherry Creek North in their new “Smart Meter” replacement program across the City. Estimated installation is late 2010, coinciding with the completion of the Streetscape improvements.
“For the past several years, Weitz has played a role in the development of Cherry Creek North and the Capital Improvements Project continues that legacy,” said Bill Hornaday, president of Weitz’ Rocky Mountain region. “We are working closely with the BID and their constituents to ensure that there is minimal impact on day-to-day commerce in this area. We have developed a phased renovation schedule that will maintain access to retail shops and businesses in the neighborhood throughout the duration of the project."
Construction on the project is expected to be complete in November 2010. For more information on the Cherry Creek North Capital Improvements Project, please visit www.ccncapimprovements.com.
