Among The Weitz Company’s core values, beliefs and practices, customer service is a top priority. Weitz is dedicated to communicating clearly with its clients throughout the entire construction process, addressing their concerns, developing solutions and delivering results that help create long-lasting partnerships. The importance of customer service is especially acute for one of Weitz’s clients, Westcor. No organization understands customer service better than Westcor, which specializes in building customer-based facilities such as shopping malls, retail outlets and business centers. Weitz provides outstanding customer service so that clients like Westcor may do the same for their customers.

The Weitz Company has completed more than 80 projects for Westcor. For some projects — including the Superstition Springs Center in Mesa, Ariz. — Weitz built the original structure and was asked to do the renovation years later. The exterior entry court features a wandering rock canyon with a desert landscape, an amphitheater and a children’s playground. Updates to the interior included refurnishing the carousel area, installing Asia Series porcelain tile, and placing limestone from Germany in random lengths to give the mall an updated look. In fact, this project was awarded the “Best of 2003 in the Renovation Category” by Southwest Contractor magazine.

Weitz is accustomed to accommodating its clients in several ways. For example, during the renovation of Paradise Valley Mall in Phoenix, Ariz., Weitz worked primarily at night to minimize disruption to shoppers and employees. Plus, Weitz provided extensive preconstruction services concerning material options and constructability to achieve Westcor’s budgeting goals. Weitz also built the Paradise Village Gateway retail outlet. The architectural masonry exteriors are accented with a unique structural steel fascia and canopy elements, as well as perforated steel sign bands, resulting in aesthetically pleasing shopping spaces for stores such as Bed Bath & Beyond, Lil’ Things, Ross and Staples.

The Weitz Company also performed extensive value engineering during the design phase of Arrowhead Marketplace in Glendale, Ariz. Containing Linens Plus, Marshalls, Drug Emporium and Office Max, the structure features weight-bearing masonry walls, a metal bar joist and a metal deck roof system. It’s adjacent to the Arrowhead Town Center shopping mall, which features a unique exterior waterscape that doubles as a community amphitheater. The construction consists of a steel frame with a split-face masonry veneer. Natural lighting floods the interior through pyramid-shaped skylights and clerestory windows.

Weitz’s willingness to go above and beyond has earned it a long-lasting partnership with Westcor. From completing quality jobs early to constructing facilities in multiple stages to building with imported materials, Weitz is an expert in customer service. Said Weitz's Marketing and Communications Manager, “We have proven our ability to produce a quality product on schedule for tight retail deadlines. We share a similar corporate culture and core values with Westcor, which has made our relationship sustainable over the years.”
